Parcel Data (Assessing Data and boundaries):
MassGIS Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Office of Geographic Information, a part
of the Information Technology Division (ITD) within the Executive Office for Administration
and Finance, provided the Cape Cod Commission with the parcel boundaries and assessing
data (ranging from 2010-2012) for 14 of the 15 Cape towns. The information was standardized
as part of a broader state wide effort. The town of Wellfleet’s data was compiled
by Cape Cod Commission GIS staff using the same level 3 parcel standard developed
by MassGIS. Details about this methodology can be found at http://www.mass.gov/mgis/L3parcels.htm
Further efforts to standardize the data and fix errors are detailed in our appendix.
Water Use Data:
Water use data from 2009-11 was obtained from 17 water districts on Cape Cod. Regional
water use averages are applied to those areas served by private wells.
Watersheds/Subwatersheds:
Watersheds and subwatersheds were delineated through the Massachusetts Estuary Project
using the USGS Groundwater flow and Particle Tracking Models for Cape Cod.
Zoning:
A Massachusetts wide zoning layer was compiled for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’
Executive Office of Environmental Affairs (EOEA) buildout done in 2004. This layer
was updated by CCC staff to account for zoning changes and to incorporate the effect
of overlay districts into the layer. Each of these zoning designations was assigned
a density and estimated floor area based on a review of the requirements of local
bylaws and for the purpose of estimating buildout potential.
Density Grid:
Created by CCC to estimate regional density based on the number of parcels and the
length of roads in any given ¼ mile grid square.
